Biography
Born in Sunderland in 1962, Gavin lives and works in rural Northumberland. He is inspired by the region, its history and the rich variety of wildlife inhabiting its landscape. His recent paintings ‘Tales From the Anthropocene’ contemplate his ecological, social and spiritual concerns for humankind, in a time when change is upon us.
Gavin has exhibited his work in New York, with Cricket Hill Associates Gallery & in London with Jonathan Cooper Park Walk Gallery. He has regularly been selected for the BP National Portrait award, the Columbia Threadneedle Art prize, the Sunny Art Prize and the New Light Art Prize. His work is in private collections in North America, Europe and the UK.
